TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #52: TIME MARCHES ON

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #52:   TIME MARCHES ON by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna )/ Featuring a review from Ray Berly ( @autopsyturvy ) This is a tough image for me to look at... Greetings and salutations, my loyal Satanic minions! Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was yet another frighteningly fun bout of sonic revelry. I opened with a brief tribute to Rock Opera Maestro and all-around songwriting legend Jim Steinman (R.I.P. King). I then played a cool mix of electronica, heavy metal, and of course a little J-funk/J-rock to spice it up nice. In other words, it was all the usual goodness regular listeners should come to expect from T.T. I started off the episode with a recording of a poem I wrote titled "Wounds Over Muzak," backed by a Clown Core instrumental track. It was really fun to do, and at the risk of wading too deep into the waters of artistic pretension, I'm thinking about incorporating more of my own poetry/spoken word into the show. As if I don...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #51: ...AND THE HITS KEEP COMING!

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #51:   ...AND THE HITS KEEP COMING! by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Let 'em have it! Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was. fan-freakin' tastic, like a nice piece-a mozzarell' topped on top of a slice of semolina bread with some olive oil drizzled on top and a slice of tomato wedged right in there. My on-mic banter was on point and I had a nice mix of regular listeners in the chat helping me keep my spirits and my energy levels high. Shows like this one remind me why I keep on doing this, why I keep putting in the energy to organize these little playlists and search through the seemingly endless depths of the internet to find new music that excites me and my small but dedicated base of listeners as well. It's always the highest compliment when someone tells me that they've been exposed to something they never would've heard otherwise through my show. We're always raising Hell on TERMINAL TRANSMISSION... My "Bandc...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #50: TERMY GOES TO THE MOVIES!

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #50:  TERMY GOES TO THE MOVIES by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Don't forget the popcorn! The fiftieth episode of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was a trip, man. It's been 364 days since I started doing this show (my first broadcast was on April 14th, 2020), and while I've gotten much more comfortable with doing the show, I'm always a bit nervous when "Tank!" winds down and I hit the button on my mic to start speaking.  I've mentioned before that I don't think that feeling will ever truly disappear, and that it's probably a good thing for multiple reasons. I mean, if the thrill is gone, is it still worth doing? Probably not. But thankfully, the thrill has yet to dull even a bit, so I intend to keep doing this show until I simply can't anymore. I fear that saying I'd like to make it to one hundred episodes will jinx me, but to hell with it, I've already typed it, so there it is. I'd love to make it to one hundred ep...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #49: DOUBLE AGENT

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #49 :  DOUBLE AGENT by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) You should watch ATOMIC BLONDE. It rocks. Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was super fun and comfortable, like slipping into an old pair of running shoes and sprinting through the park while blasting the song "Double Vision" by Foreigner on repeat through your headphones... what, too specific?  Since my forty-ninth show coincided with the tail end of "Covers Week" on Kpiss.FM, I decided to play ball and pack my playlist from top-to-bottom with the best covers I could get my freaky little fingers on. I made sure to bust out some cool heavy metal covers, like White Zombie's excellent version of the classic Black Sabbath song "Children Of The Grave." Both versions of that track will always shred! It's been almost a year of doing this show, and I'm so thankful for the friends (many of them fellow Kpiss DJs) I've made and all the new music I've disc...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #48: WIFE GUY DIRECTOR

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #48 :  WIFE GUY DIRECTOR by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Paul W.S. Anderson & Milla Jovovich: The ultimate cinematic power couple Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was fun and swept past nice and easy. I felt like I was in good form throughout and didn't stumble or lapse into awkward silences too much. Hell, I've only been doing this for almost a year now, who would expect me to actually be competent at it?! Well, I guess I would! The good news is: I am competent at broadcasting, and I'm getting a little bit better each time I do it. I'll be honest: the last week or so has been insanely stressful and rough for me for mostly personal reasons. I've just been trying my damndest to balance out various aspects of my life that I've been juggling for far too long, and I'm at a point where I'm going to have to set some things aside. Eventually, this show might have be one of those things, but for now we're going s...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #47: EXILE ON CENTRAL AVE

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #47 :  EXILE ON CENTRAL AVE by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Yonkers feels strange in these early months of 2021... Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was interesting, in that I feel like I managed to do a good job and keep in good spirits, but I could feel a haze of melancholy hanging over me throughout the show, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if any listeners out there detected it in my voice (perhaps because they feel it enveloping them as well?). Nevertheless, I soldiered through. By the end of the show, as I bopped along to the song "Run with Anger" from the BUBBLEGUM CRISIS OVA, fantasizing about being the leader of a cool biker gang, I was feeling much better. I've been having this recurring dream for a little while now, one where I'm somehow back in high school as a twenty-nine year old man, taking classes and dealing with all the stress and bullshit that high school dealt me back in my teens years, but with the e...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #46: BELIEVING THE STRANGEST THINGS

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #46: BELIEVING THE STRANGEST THINGS by Chris LaVigna ( @Chris_LaVigna )/ featuring a review from Ray Berly ( @autopsyturvy ) Pictured: Brak dutifully guarding my latest sigil Today's TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was yet another solid entry into what will soon be a year's worth of top-quality internet radio insanity. I started things off hard and heavy with some New York Hardcore and Noise, moved into the Black Metal and Grindcore spheres of influence for a bit, then finished things off with some smooth, slinky, and synth-kissed Rock 'N' Roll, both inspired by the 1970s and from the actual decade itself. It's the kind of mix that regular listeners of the show have undoubtedly come to expect from me, although I will admit that I've been going a bit light on the Anime OST Cuts and J-Rock Bangers. I should probably get around to fixing that soon... My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for this show was the new track from Yonkers' own We Are ...
