TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #50:
TERMY GOES TO THE MOVIES
by Chris La Vigna (@Chris_LaVigna)
The fiftieth episode of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was a trip, man. It's been 364 days since I started doing this show (my first broadcast was on April 14th, 2020), and while I've gotten much more comfortable with doing the show, I'm always a bit nervous when "Tank!" winds down and I hit the button on my mic to start speaking.
I've mentioned before that I don't think that feeling will ever truly disappear, and that it's probably a good thing for multiple reasons. I mean, if the thrill is gone, is it still worth doing? Probably not. But thankfully, the thrill has yet to dull even a bit, so I intend to keep doing this show until I simply can't anymore. I fear that saying I'd like to make it to one hundred episodes will jinx me, but to hell with it, I've already typed it, so there it is. I'd love to make it to one hundred episodes, but I also won't set anything in stone just yet.

I went with the theme of movies for several reasons, the main one being that I simply miss going to the movies. I know that the theatergoing experience has been in danger of going the way of the dodo for some time now, thanks to things like the rise of streaming services and comically over-inflated ticket prices, but I've always held the cinema as a sacred place in my heart, and I intend to practically live in my local movie theaters once I feel truly safe going to one (theaters are currently re-opened with limited capacity in New York State). The magic of the movies lives on!
My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for this watershed show was the song "Forging The Beast" by Jóhan Jóhannsson, from The soundtrack to the epic Nic Cage-starring film MANDY, which was hands-down one of my favorite films of the 2010s. I tried to find a decent quality clip of the Cheddar Goblin TV ad to play in front of it, but I couldn't find anything on YouTube that met my quality standards (and let's be real, that's a pretty low bar to jump). Ah well, still a great piece of music crafted for a great film.
If you missed the show while I was broadcasting live, you can stream the recording here via the Kpiss website. You can also catch up on the forty-nine preceding episodes here. Here's to another fifty more (maybe)!
