 TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #30 :   DIRTY THIRTY by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) It's a big hit with the ladies! Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was pretty easy breezy, I must say. I guess after thirty shows it would only make sense that I'd be nice and settled in to my role as a digital broadcaster. Today's brilliant broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was a smashing success, and a welcome break from all the unpacking and settling in I've been doing since my big move. I feel even more comfortable in my own skin as a digital broadcaster, which helps me as I adjust to living in a new space. This prolonged election nightmare was a real endurance test, but one thing that helped ease the pain was the fact that System of A Down, dropped not one, but two--count 'em-- TWO new songs! I couldn't help but play them both at the top of the show. It's bittersweet though, because the cause that pushed the band to record and release this new material is one that's been a source of rage, sorrow, and inspiration for them for decades now-- the continued aggression and genocide against Armenia from Turkey . Today's TERMINAL TRANSMISSION happened to fall on Election Day 2020, a day that will go down in history as one where we fought to preserve whatever echoes of a soul this incredibly flawed nation may or may not even have. It's hard for me to be funny or wacky right now. As of this writing, no results have come in yet. I fear for myself, my loved ones, this country, and for my fellow Americans who might not survive another four years of a Donald Trump presidency. I also know in my heart that if Joe Biden wins, that the battle will still be far from over. The Biden/Harris ticket represents little more than a half-hearted return to the dysfunctional status quo that created the dissatisfaction and inequality that allowed Trump's rise to happen in the first place. Today's brutal broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was some of the most fun I've ever had on this show. For some reason everything just clicked today (aside from when I accidentally hit pause on that Mudvayne song for a second) and I felt like I was the kind of DJ that I love listening to on the radio myself: erratic and showy while also being sincere and down-to-earth. Here's hoping that I only get better at it from here. My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" this time around was the song " Tennessee " by Bonnie And The Mere Mortals, off their EP of the same name. I can't even remember how I stumbled upon this band, definitely through some channel of social media, but I took to their self-described "Southern Gothic" style instantly. Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was some more spooky fun. It had a bit more of a classic rock 'n' roll (and at times even disco) vibe to it, and most importantly, I managed to avert a complete technical disaster by fixing some metadata stuff before it cut into my show's runtime.
