TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #35: NEW YEAR'S EVIL

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #35 :  NEW YEAR'S EVIL by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) 2021 is looking so bright, he's gotta wear shades...and stockings over his head.... Well, we actually made it to the end of this insane and evil year. Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION, the final one of 2020, was an absolute blast. Months of doing this show have fine-tuned my skills as an on-air talent, and I am so excited to see how I manage to improve and grow in the new year, not just a broadcaster, but as a creative, and as a human being in general. I know we're all tip toeing into 2021, and I completely understand the emphasis on the "cautious" in our "cautious optimism," but I can't help but feel excited by the possibilities. My final "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for 2020 was the sonic slayer of a song that is " Abaddon " by Monochromatic Black, a progressive death metal band straight outta New York, or as I like to say, NEW YAWK!...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #34: XMAS 2020

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #34 :  X M A S 2 0 2 0 by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) It's okay, we've all been Bad Santas this year... Listen up you bozos, It's Christmas time. We don't mess around when it comes to Christmas time here on TERMINAL TRANSMISSION. We take this season and all the magic and wonderment contained within it seriously, understand? So you best get to deckin' them halls and drinkin' that eggnog, or I'll get my main dude Krampus to come to your place and just completely mess you up. THIS IS NOT A GAME. That's why I concocted a solid playlist full of holiday classics, mixed with a heavy dose of more rockin' contemporary fare. It's fun for the whole freakin' family! Anyways, My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for this program was " Giving In The Name Of " by Furnace and The Fundamentals, a parody band out of Australia. I'm not going to lie, I discovered this band by simply logging on to Bandcamp and typin...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #33: DORKS

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #33 :  DORKS by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Piss off, Kevin! Today's episode of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was fun, another lively mix of music and weird, one-sided banter from yours truly, although I did have some cool people stopping by in the Kpiss.fm chat to help make the hour speed on by. My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" was the tormented track " Internal Incarceration " by Year Of The Knife, off their album of the same name. YOTK is an insanely heavy five-piece hardcore band hailing from Delaware, and the title track I chose to play from them is a blistering track about the self-imposed prison of addiction. Although, if you ask me, I think the pain reflected in these lyrics can apply to anybody who's in any kind of mental anguish and is left feeling utterly powerless by it.  This is a band with heavy instrumentals and intense yet empathetic lyrics; I honestly can't recommend this album enough. Check it out and throw some mone...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #32: BEYOND THE GREEN HOLE

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #32 :  BEYOND THE GREEN HOLE by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) "Green Hole! Green hole!/ Got a burning hoooole...GREEN HOLE!" Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was good, if not a little rocky thanks to some slight technical difficulties. I swear, macs always find a new way to screw you over at the worst possible moment. What a massive pain in the ass they can be. But overall, the show was a good time. My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for this program was the terrific track " Rob And Steal " by Left In The Attic, an amazing three-piece punk band straight outta the Bronx. I've known of Left In The Attic for years, saw them play countless shows in Fordham, and my first band J.C.D. even played a few shows with them. They're always a good time, and I sincerely hope to see them rock out live again once Covid-19 stops wreaking havoc upon the denizens of this defective nation. Today's episode is named after a ridi...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #31: INVERT GHOSTS

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #31 :  INVERT GHOSTS by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) ...And Justice For Jason... This broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was pretty solid. I was super stressed for most of this week, and the stress levels were rising right around when I was on the air, but I soldiered forth. I usually have some reason and theme concept for the title and image I choose for my shows, but this one felt very random. I mean, "invert ghosts?" Even I'm not sure what the hell that means, but I went with it. My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" was the song " Berlin Nites " by Ed Schrader's Music Beat. It's an awesome cover tune that gives dedicated fans such as myself a peek at what their new album will sound like, and it seems that they're going for a potent mix of their "Jazz Mind" sound and "Party Jail" angst, filtered through the refined songwriting sensibilities of "Riddles." In other words: It's going ...
