TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #56:   TALES FROM THE DOCKSIDE by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Pictured: The Boneheads, live @ Portland Lobster Company on 5/17/2021 Today's episode of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was a certified blast, man. It felt so good to be back behind the mic live, interacting with friends and listeners in chat, just doing my thing as I like to do. This show was centered around all the fun I had during a recent trip to Portland, Maine, and I hope I managed to successfully convey the cool aura that city exudes. Maybe I'll move there some day! Who knows... My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for today's show was the cool, weird, and wholly unique noise track " I'm Trash " by  id m theft able, a prolific experimental musician from Maine whose work I stumbled upon when I decided to search for tunes using the "Portland, Maine" tag on Bandcamp. The cool, off-the-cuff energy of this particular song drew me in, and has already got me siftin...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #55: A GODDESS AMONG WOLVES

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #55:  A GODDESS AMONG WOLVES by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) Step aside, boys... On May 18th, 2021, I was on vacation Portland, Maine with my girlfriend, and we were driving up to Bangor so we could visit every horror lover's mecca, Stephen King's house. Because of this, I pre-recorded episode fifty-five of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION that prior Saturday. In terms of quality, I'm not sure the episode would rank on the higher end. I say that because as I was recording it, I realized that it felt off kilter because I've become so accustomed to the energy of doing the show live and interacting with listeners and my fellow Kpiss DJs in the chat. So my vibes as a host are definitely off, but the songs still rock, so there's that at least! My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" for this show was the new single from Old City, " Class Act. " It's an awesome  song that features Shawna Potter from War On Women on the hook, along with Tré ...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #54: WHEN THE IRON CHEF HITS THE IRON

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #54:   WHEN THE IRON CHEF HITS THE IRON  by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) EAT IT UP YOU HOGS! Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was fun, if not a "pretty standard" (please read that in your best Dr. Evil impersonation) show. No major hiccups, nothing about it was super insane or "one for the ages," just a solid, middle-of-the-road show. I know that might sound like I'm damning it with faint praise, but in reality what I'm trying to say is that it was a good show, and I should feel good about it, so I do! One notable part of it was that Himiko, one of the DJs from the Kpiss.fm show PARADISE OF REPLICA , tuned in today and chatted with me a bit during the broadcast. That was a great way to keep my momentum and spirits up, because PoR has been one of my favorite shows on the station for a while now, so to have him tune in and say some kind words made me feel great. My "Bandcamp Pick Of The Week" is the song ...

TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #53: TERRACOTTA SPOOK HOUSE

Image
TERMINAL TRANSMISSION #53:  TERRACOTTA SPOOK HOUSE by Chris La Vigna ( @Chris_LaVigna ) I know man, I don't get it either, I just know it's creepy. (Credit: Abroad In Japan ) Today's broadcast of TERMINAL TRANSMISSION was fun, if not perhaps a bit disjointed. As I mentioned while I was on the air, I scrambled to get this playlist together in time for the show. Usually I have my episodes assembled well in advance, sometimes with two or three weeks' worth of playlists ready, but due to a host of factors, I fell behind and assembled today's show the night before.  To be clear though, I don't consider that some sort of massive broadcasting sin or anything like that. I love really thinking out a show's concept and creating a fun theme, but a lot of cool and creative things can emerge from the pressure that forces you go off-the-cuff with whatever your particular medium is. A rather raunchy definition of the term "spook house" that I'd never heard o...
