I don't know about you folks, but the ongoing situation with this pandemic is wearing on me now more than ever before. Even though some states, and even certain sections of New York, are slowly starting to reopen, it's clear that we're still far from being out of the woods with this thing. The word on the street is that even if things relax a bit in the coming summer, we should be expecting a second wave in the fall/winter.

I don't write that to bring any of you down. I'm just trying to be real about the situation we're in and the situation that lies ahead of us. And while it's a very small, almost petty problem, one of the things that makes a horror nerd like me sad is the thought that we might have to be quarantined for Halloween 2020. So I've been indulging in a lot of Halloween-centered media to stave off that particular dread. that's lead me to today's Q-Rec: Live from Salem, Massachusetts, It's ELVIRA'S MTV HALLOWEEN SPECIAL! 

That's right folks, everyone's favorite horror hostess Elvira, Mistress of The Dark, got to host a Halloween special in Salem, MA for MTV back in the day, and thankfully it has been taped and preserved for horror lovers to watch over and over! The video features tons of vintage commercials, funny-if-not-awkward interviews where Elvira chats with Salem locals, and all sorts of hilarious sketches, like Elvira arguing with a nun or doing an ad for a "Halloween carols" album (which would probably sell like hotcakes if it were real & released today).

So if you're a fellow Halloween lover who's bummed about (possibly) not being able to go out and get drunk with your friends at a big costume party this year, give this video a watch and bask in the spooky nostalgic glow of a 1980s Halloween.
